Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is a third person action adventure game available exclusively for the PS3. Released in late 2007, it is still the best PlayStation 3 game I have ever played.
Graphics – 10 / 10
Lush green jungles and richly detailed environments. Great animations and near perfect characters, even two years later this is one of the best looking games on the PS3, and will only be one upped by its soon to be released squeal, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Audio & Video – 9/10
Voice acting is spot on, all the characters are motion captured head to toe with real actors and you can really tell that. The soundtrack is equally classic adventure stuff and very uplifting. The cut scenes again are just great, this game has old school Hollywood written all over it and the actors really did a great job.
Gameplay – 9.5 / 10
If the classic platformers of Mario and Crash Bandicoot were the definition of the 90′s, Uncharted has defined 3D platforming to perfection. Running and jumping through an environment has never been this much fun since I was a kid, when even the silliest things would impress me. Add in a much more precise over-the-shoulder gun play similar to but massively improved over the hideously inaccurate Gears of War, plus incredibly bad ass stealth kills that Solid Snake would be proud of, and you have Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
Longevity – 10 / 10
There is so much awesome stuff to unlock and see and enjoy! This was the first time in a decade that I bothered, no couldn’t wait to play through the game again. The action is so enjoyable, there are so many treasures to find, stunts to unlock, special weapons and all these skins and game changers to unlock. Finally, I can say they made this game just like they use to back in the day.
If the old Tomb Raider games ever ran in to Indiana Jones and had a baby, its name would be Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Flawless.
Overall: 10 / 10
